Understanding How Grace Is Received, Sustained, and Preserved

Introduction
One of the remarkable truths of the Kingdom is that grace is transmittable.
Grace is not merely an abstract spiritual concept; it is a divine enablement that can be imparted, received, nurtured, and increased. Throughout Scripture, we see God releasing specific graces upon individuals for Kingdom assignments, and those same graces often overflow into the lives of others who position themselves correctly.
The question is not whether grace can be received.
The greater question is:
How does grace flow from one person to another?
Grace Flows by Divine Order
John 1:16 (KJV)
"And of his fulness have all we received, and grace for grace."
Grace operates much like the principle of diffusion we learned in school.
Just as substances naturally move from a region of higher concentration to a region of lower concentration, grace flows from those who have been richly supplied by God to those who humbly desire and position themselves to receive it.
This flow is not automatic.
It follows the order established by God.
Grace is transmitted through humility, honour, and submission.
Submission Is the Pathway For Impartation
The Greek word for submission is hypotassomenoi
Hypotassomenoi is the present participle of the verb hypotasso.
It comes from two roots hypo and tasso.
One of the greatest spiritual keys to receiving grace is submission.
God gives more grace to the humble.
The humble are those who willingly align themselves under divine authority and faithfully embrace the assignment, instruction, and leadership of those God has placed ahead of them.
Submission is far more than external obedience.
It is the intentional positioning of one's heart beneath another's God-given authority.
Submission is a powerful spiritual weapon.
It is one of the greatest demonstrations of maturity within the Kingdom.
The Strength Required to Submit
Perhaps one of the most difficult things for any individual is to submit wholeheartedly to another person.
Human nature often desires independence, self-expression, and control.
Yet Kingdom culture teaches something different.
True submission requires grace.
It takes divine enablement for a person to remain loyal, honourable, and faithful without continually questioning, resisting, or challenging legitimate authority.
Submission is a special virtue that causes a person to willingly surrender personal rights, ambitions, and preferences out of love, honour, and reverence for another.
It is choosing to advance God's purpose above personal ambition.
It is placing one's own mission beneath a greater Kingdom assignment.
It is intentionally taking the lower place so that God's purpose may prevail.
Grace Is Retained in the Place of Humility
Isaiah 32:15 (KJV)
"Until the spirit be poured upon us from on high, and the wilderness be a fruitful field, and the fruitful field be counted for a forest."
Every genuine impartation comes from above.
Grace flows from higher places into prepared hearts.
However, impartation is not sustained by receiving alone—it is sustained by humility.
Lowliness of heart creates the capacity to retain, preserve, and continually replenish the grace that has been received.
The deeper the humility, the greater the capacity for divine increase.
Grace Can Be Corrupted
One of the sobering lessons from Scripture is that grace is not only received—it can also be frustrated or corrupted.
Lucifer stands as one of the clearest examples.
Ezekiel 28:2 (KJV)
"Because thine heart is lifted up... yet thou art a man, and not God..."
Lucifer's downfall did not begin with his gifts.
It began with his heart.
Pride lifted him beyond the place God had assigned to him.
The moment his heart was exalted, the grace and wisdom entrusted to him became corrupted.
Ezekiel 28:17 (KJV)
"Thine heart was lifted up because of thy beauty, thou hast corrupted thy wisdom by reason of thy brightness..."
His fall reminds us that pride corrupts what grace once built.
It is possible to receive extraordinary grace and yet lose its effectiveness through a heart that refuses to remain humble before God.
The Stewardship of Grace
Receiving grace is only the beginning.
The greater responsibility is learning how to steward it faithfully.
Grace must be guarded.
Grace must be honoured.
Grace must be continually nurtured through humility, obedience, and dependence upon God.
It is not always about what you have received.
Often, the greater challenge is how you preserve what Heaven has entrusted to you.
Final Charge
Seek grace.
Honour those whom God has used to enrich your life spiritually.
Remain humble.
Guard your heart against pride.
Never allow familiarity, self-sufficiency, or personal ambition to corrupt the grace God has so generously bestowed upon you.
Remember:
Grace flows downward.
The humble receive it.
The humble preserve it.
The humble increase in it.
May your heart remain low before God.
May your life continually attract fresh measures of His grace.
And may every impartation you receive produce lasting fruit for the glory of Christ.
