WHAT AND WHO ARE THE FOUNDATION OF YOUR LIFE? [EPISODE 2]

What and Who Is the Foundation of Your Life?

Episode 2: Christ—The Only Sure Foundation

By Pastor Manuel

Introduction

In Episode 1, we explored the sobering truth revealed in Psalm 82:5 —that "all the foundations of the earth are out of course." Since humanity's fall, the systems that govern life have been affected, drifting from God's original purpose and perfection.

But God did not leave humanity without hope.

He established a new and everlasting foundation through His Son, Jesus Christ.

As the Apostle Paul declares:

"For other foundation can no man lay than that is laid, which is Jesus Christ."
— 1 Corinthians 3:11 (KJV)

Christ is not merely a better foundation; He is the only foundation upon which a lasting life can be built.

Creation Was Subjected to Frustration

The effects of Adam's fall extended far beyond humanity.

Scripture tells us:

"For the creation was subjected to frustration, not by its own choice..."
— Romans 8:20 (NIV)

The Message translation captures this reality vividly:

"Everything in creation is being more or less held back..."
— Romans 8:20 (MSG)

Creation no longer functions according to God's original design.

Every aspect of life bears the marks of a world subjected to decay and frustration.

When Effort Is Not Enough

Consider the realm of education.

Many assume that success depends solely upon personal effort or determination.

Yet experience often proves otherwise.

Some students work diligently, study faithfully, and remain committed, yet struggle to retain knowledge or perform well academically.

Such situations remind us that life's challenges cannot always be explained by human effort alone.

The Apostle Paul writes:

"So then it is not of him that willeth, nor of him that runneth, but of God that sheweth mercy."
— Romans 9:16 (KJV)

The message highlights a deeper spiritual reality: humanity lives in a fallen world where broken foundations affect every sphere of life.

The Root of the Problem

Why does frustration exist?

Scripture provides the answer:

"For all have sinned, and come short of the glory of God."
— Romans 3:23 (KJV)

Sin disrupted God's perfect order.

As a result, humanity—and creation itself—became subject to corruption and decay.

This explains why so much of life falls short of its intended purpose.

The Promise of Freedom

The story, however, does not end with frustration.

Paul continues with a glorious promise:

"...that the creation itself will be liberated from its bondage to decay and brought into the glorious freedom of the children of God."
— Romans 8:21 (NIV)

Through Jesus Christ, God has made a way for believers to experience freedom from the dominion of sin and the hopelessness of a fallen world.

This freedom is found in a new foundation.

Christ: The Foundation of Glory

There is a realm established by God where His children are no longer defined by bondage but by His glory.

That realm is found in Christ.

As Scripture declares:

"Christ in you, the hope of glory."
— Colossians 1:27 (KJV)

Jesus Christ is our:

  • Firm foundation.

  • Perfect foundation.

  • Eternal foundation.

  • Glorious foundation.

Everything built upon Him finds stability, purpose, and lasting hope.

Build Your Life on the Right Foundation

Every person builds their life upon something.

Some trust in education.

Others rely on wealth, influence, family heritage, or personal achievements.

Yet every earthly foundation is vulnerable to change.

Only Christ remains constant.

He alone offers a foundation that cannot be shaken by failure, disappointment, or the uncertainties of life.

To build upon Christ is to build upon truth, grace, and eternal security.

Final Reflection

The frustrations of this world remind us that creation is still longing for complete restoration.

Yet believers do not face life's challenges without hope.

Jesus Christ has become our sure foundation.

In Him, we find freedom where there was bondage, purpose where there was confusion, and glory where there was once frustration.

The invitation remains open to every heart:

Choose Christ.

Build your life upon the only foundation that will never fail.
